The High Mountain Hay Fever Bluegrass Festival brings bluegrass enthusiasts from across the country to the Wet Mountain Valley each July. Free from the sprawl and congestion of larger festivals, this premier event offers nationally recognized talent while remaining true to its motto — Small Scale, Big Time.

A circus tent in Bluff Park at the west end of Westcliffe provides the stage for old-time legends and cutting-edge new talent. Bluegrass fans come for the music but stay for the backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains fronted by miles of pastures and hay fields.

While top performers set this four-day festival apart, a children’s program, workshops and late-night jam sessions in the camping area make it fun for the entire family.

The High Mountain Hay Fever Festival Association, a nonprofit organization run by volunteers, hosts the event each year and donates proceeds to other nonprofits serving the Wet Mountain Valley.
