Thinking about home projects with spring on the way? Environmentally-friendly renewable energy can increase the value of a home and allow homeowners to produce electricity even when the grid is down. Local resident Gary Gage will provide an introduction to renewable energy alternatives including solar, wind, and hydroelectricity at a free seminar at the West Custer County Library on Thur., March 23 at 5:00 p.m.

Gage is certified in battery-based solar power and has installed many renewable energy systems in both Michigan and Colorado. He will achieve his North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners certification this spring.

“I would like to invite the community to join me at the presentation to help clear up the confusion that often surrounds this rapidly-growing field,” said Gage. According to Gage, renewable energy requires little maintenance and can produce reliable electricity for 40+ years. As a long-term investment, it can pay itself back in as little as 6-10 years.
