Dark Skies Star Party – Smokey Jack Observatory, Total Solar Eclipse of the Sun

(At the Bluff, west end of Main St., Westcliffe, CO)

Monday, August 21, 2017

10:30AM – 1:15PM

One of the most beautiful and rare events in all of nature, a total solar eclipse, will occur across the United States. The SJO will be open for safe viewing of this event; however, Westcliffe will only see approximately 90% of the sun covered by the Moon with the maximum at 11:45 a.m. (begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 1:15 p.m.) For a map of the path of totality, http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/path_through_the_US.htm

CAUTION: NEVER look at any part of an eclipse without proper solar eye protection, available at http://www.eclipse2017.org for a very small cost.
