Experience the views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains or the light-protected starry skies from the unique perspective of an Amish wagon ride. Sunset Ranch has two sorrel crossbred horses – Diesel and Duramax – they hitch to a wagon to carry up to 10 adults very comfortably. Diesel is a Standardbred Morgan and Duramax is a Belgian Quarter Horse.

During special weekend events, wagon rides will be available for trips from The Bluff Park located at 100 S. Adams Blvd, Westcliffe to Grape Creek and back, a half hour ride, or a one-hour Town Heritage Tour for those who enjoy local, western history. Sunset Ranch is also available for weddings and other special occasions.

Take in our breathtaking International Dark Sky-designated starry skies with a night ride on a wide-open country road from the Sunset Ranch itself or from the The Bluff Park, the location of the Smokey Jack Observatory.

The Sunset Ranch also offers quarter horses for horseback rides and a pony and cart for children.

Try a slower paced way of travel and share their Amish lifestyle and as you start to understand why they enjoy these magnificent animals that helped carve out the West a long time ago. They can share a bit of experience on what the first pioneers went through coming west on a stagecoach or with their own wagon loaded with all their belongings.

Wagon rides are available by advanced reservation only, so contact Freeman Miller at 719-239-0154 or freemanmiller911@yahoo.com to make your reservation.
