Observe our nation’s independence during Custer County’s multi-day Fourth of July celebration.

Festivities kick off with the popular Hi Altitude Horsepower Car Show, where collectors bring a range of unique cars to share with the crowd. Delicious local barbecue and a bounce house help make this an ideal way to begin your Independence Day holiday.

The Sangres Art Guild holds its annual fiber arts show and ice cream social after the car show at the 3rd Street Gallery. The show features locally handcrafted items from Custer County artisans.

Other festivities include All Aboard Westcliffe’s annual Yard Sale and Flea Market, a July 4 pancake breakfast and an old-fashioned small-town parade on the morning of the 4th.

The festivities wrap up with an impressive fireworks show at DeWeese Reservoir. The show is free, but it’s tradition to give the firefighters cash donations to help cover the cost of the magnificent fireworks.
